We hosted Marianne Berkes along with the illustrator of two of her books, Jeanette Canyon, at our school in April. It was clear that they both had experience in the education field. They really engaged the students during their presentation. Their books are flying off our shelves!

I am a librarian and friend of Marianne. It has been with great delight and pride that I have followed each and every book. My grandaughter has a copy of every one. I also had given a copy of Over In The Jungle to a friend’s grandson. His mother wrote to me with much enthusiastic praise for the book, Marianne’s abilities and about how her son loved the book and had memorized it all.

We are proud to have all of Marianne’s children’s books in
our home. They are much enjoyed by our granddaughters and
nature learning tools for all of us. Some 35 years ago
Marianne was our children’s nursery school teacher. She
had such a flair for interacting with little people, draw-
ing them in with her enthusiasm and a bit of theatre. She
brings these gifts + hard work and research to her

Marianne was an inspiring and enthusiastic co-worker when we both worked for the Palm Beach County Library System. Her use of games, music and children involvement in her story times brought parents back time and again to her programs. We collaborated to use music as a dynamic force that was exciting for both children and parents when they came to the library!

I’m proud to say Marianne is my Mother; growing up, she would spend bedtime reading me stories and making them come alive through her enthusiasm, expression and love of literature. I especially enjoyed, listening to her own stories; stories that would come from her own life experiences. I’m so delighted that her gift has such a far reach via her published works. I know there will be more and more… as she always has new and exciting ideas in the way she looks at our world!

I hosted a storytime with Marianne soon after the release of Seashells by the Seashore. It’s very true that the rhythm and rhyme of her stories grabs the children and her hands-on props and music keeps them involved. We have continued these events for each and every one of her books and I actually ‘assist’ in these storytimes now! Our next one is scheduled in March to showcase her latest publication. Over the years, Marianne & I have also become wonderful friends!
