Carol Reed-Jones

Carol Reed-Jones lives in Bellingham, Washington with her husband and their cats. Ever since she wrote her first story in third grade about a talking pumpkin, she has known she wanted to write. Carol has a Bachelor’s degree in Music, a Master’s in Music History, and teaches music in a Montessori school in Bellingham, Washington. She loves to visit schools and get everyone interested in writing.

Carol’s first picture book, The Tree in the Ancient Forest, won the Benjamin Franklin medal for Best Children’s Book in 1996 with The Independent Book Publishers Association PMA. Her second book, Salmon Stream, received a Teacher’s Choice award from Learning Magazine, was listed as an Outstanding Science Trade Book with NSTA and CBC, and was a Washington state nominee for Young Readers’ Choice Award in 2002.

When Carol isn’t writing or doing school author visits, she can be found hiking or playing in a marimba band.
